In the heart of Haute-Savoie, between Chamonix and Annecy, at an altitude of 900m, our Fruitières Des Bornes are located on the Plateau des Bornes, a unique mid-mountain terroir and pasture. Independent since 1911, our cheese dairies perpetuate the authentic know-how of traditional Savoy cheese-making using raw cow's milk. Collected from our thirty or so farms within a 10km radius, 15 million litres of raw milk are processed every day to make Reblochon (70%), Abondance (25%) and Raclette de Savoie (5%), in strict compliance with PDO/PGI specifications.
To ensure the long-term survival of the farms on the plateau, our Fruitières Des Bornes bring together producers and cheesemakers in a fair and mutually supportive approach: the price of milk is not set for the year, but is based on a fair distribution of the added value derived from the sale price of the cheeses. This difference makes our partnership, between the producers of the "Coopérative des Fruitières des Bornes" and the cheesemakers of "Capt & Fils Depuis 1850", a pioneering and unique approach for over 30 years.
