The ‘Queijo de ovelha amanteigado from Quinta do Pomar’ won the prize for ‘World's Best Cheese’ at the World Cheese Awards 2024, organised on 15 November in Viseu (Portugal).

4,786 cheeses from 47 countries examined by 240 judges from 40 countries: for its 2024 edition, the World Cheese Awards offered an incredibly varied selection.

Finally, it was ‘Queijo de ovelha amanteigado from Quinta do Pomar’ (a raw sheep's milk cheese curdled with thistle blossom) that triumphed. Two Swiss cheeses completed the podium: Tea Fondada (producer: Chascharia Val Müstair) and Alpenhorn Mifroma (producer: Elsa Group).

But the French didn't leave with empty hands! Exhibitor at the Cheese and Dairy Products Show, the Agour company was rewarded for the powerful taste and wild notes of its ‘Ossau Iraty PDO’ made from raw milk, which received the ‘Best French Cheese’ award at the ceremony.

Congratulations to all the winners!
